AI in a Human Society is a reading group at CMU exploring how to build, understand, and govern artificial intelligence. We draw from law, economics, statistics, machine learning, and more, with the goal of covering a broad range of topics and methods across disciplines.
For the Spring/Summer 2026 semester, our focus is on AI law and policy. Each meeting, we discuss a different primary source, e.g., a bill, law, executive order, or settlement agreement. We occasionally supplement these with law review articles, legal analyses, and guest talks.
If you’re at CMU and would like to join and/or if you have any questions, please contact us at cmu-ai-human-society@googlegroups.com.
See the schedule for topics, readings, and past meetings, and the organizing committee page for who runs the group.
